What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we have a 2009 Subaru Forester, and we're going to be taking a look at the Thule outweigh. So as you can tell, this is a truck mounted bike rack, but it is a platform style. So this is going to be great for your carbon fiber frame bikes. We do have a little cushion that'll go around your frame and that's going to protect it a little bit more, but you can use it with your carbon fiber bikes and any other bike that you may have. There are a couple of different limitations. more

Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Outback we're going to be doing a test-fit on the Hollywood racks over the top two bike carrier. And that part number is HRF2. This bike rack is specifically designed for vehicles that have these spoilers at the top of their hatch so that it can prevent any type of damage from occurring.As you can see the connection points for straps from the bike rack to the top of the hatch isn't adding on any extra weight or pull onto the spoilers, which is going to help protect it from any type of damage. Seeing our bike installed right here we're going to see it secured at three different points of contact.We have two straps on the top of our frame and we have this anti-sway strap securing it into this cradle. Once that's secured, that's going to prevent the bike from swaying too much while we're traveling and prevent the bike from making contact with the rear of our vehicle or with the other bike we could have installed.Let's go ahead and remove it. I'm going to just remove these straps like that. more

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Subaru Outback, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Fullback Two Bike Rack. That's going to be part number Y02634. As you can tell, we do already have a bike installed, so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now if we start from the outside and work our way in, we're going to see this nice integrated cable lock system that comes out from this arm of the bike rack wrapped around your second bike you have installed, and it's simply inserts in that little notch right there. You will get a set of keys with this bike rack, so when you went to unlock the cable you just insert your key in there, unlock it, and then you can unload your bikes. On this side we're going to see this nice bottle opener on the other arm, which is courtesy of Yakima on all of their bike racks. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback wagon we're going to be test fitting the Yakima HalfBack 2-bike rack for trunk mounts, part number Y02636. We already have a bike installed on our rack, so let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.At the ends of both of our arms we do have bottle openers, which is pretty unique to most bike racks. The cradles are stationary but have this SuperCush material to ensure that the frame of your bike doesn't get any scratches or abrasions once it's being installed. We also have the ZipStrips, two of them up top holding it in place, as well as one to the side, which is going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bikes from moving too far back and forth and making bike to bike contact.We do have a stabilization strap around our first wheel here. If you we're to have both bikes attached, there is a much longer strap that would wrap around both bikes, as well as the bike rack itself, to keep it stable in those situations.Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. The cradles themselves are a adjustable to accommodate loading and unloading, and it will grip your bike at three points. We'll have two straps up at the top here and one off to the side, which is going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and making bike to bike contact. We also have this wheel strap up at the front which serves as a stabilization strap for a one-bike application. For two bikes, you have a much longer strap that would go around both bikes' frames, as well as the frame of the bike rack itself, to keep everything secure there. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. With the bike rack in this position I'm going to go ahead and give you a couple quick measurements. more

Thule Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Legacy- Video

Today on our 2015 Subaru Legacy we're going to be test fitting a Thule Raceway Pro 2 bike rack, part #TH9001PRO. As you can see, we already have a bike secured to our bike rack. You have two straps on top across the frame and one strap across the vertical part to keep from swaying. You just pop these straps off and your bike will come right off. Now with the bike off, let's go ahead and take some measurements. Overall, you're going to be adding right about 21" to the overall length of the vehicle. Now, the arms do fold down for extra access, for parking or anything else. You just lift up on these tabs, fold them down and lock them into place. There are four straps that secure it to the vehicle. more

Thule Passage Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Legacy- Video

Today on our 2015 Subaru Legacy, we're going to be test fitting a Thule Passage Two Bike Carrier, part number TH910XT. Now we already have our bike secured to the bike rack, and I'm go ahead and show you how we can take it off. We have two straps on the top that go over the frame, and one on the vertical part of the frame that is the anti-sway. Just remove the straps, move take your bike right off. Now with the bike off, let's take some measurements. Overall, it's going to add right about 19 and a half inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Now these arms do fold down. more

Saris Bones Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek- Video

Today on your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be test-fitting the Saris Bones three bike carrier; part number SA801. Now, we already have a bike on the rack; let's go ahead and take a closer look at it and look at some of the features. The way the bike attaches to the rack, it has three points of contact to the bike's frame: you have these two straps up here as well as this one here which acts as an anti-sway strap to keep it from going back and forth, hitting the bike rack, or possible the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take that off. You just push these buttons in here, they come off. Now it's always good that once you remove the straps you put them back into place, just so they're not flapping around while you're driving and so you don't lose them; but for these, it's also to keep all of the dirt and grime out of them. The next thing I'm going to do is to give you a measurement to give you an idea of how much is added to the back of the vehicle once the bike rack is installed. I'll be measuring from the hatch. That's going to be about 20 inches. With this rack, the arms also do fold down; and to do that, you have these knobs up at the top here that you want to loosen up. more

We already have a bike installed on our rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look at some of the features. The bike attaches to the bike rack by three points of contact to your bike's frame, we have two straps up top here as well as a strap off to the side here, which acts as an anti-sway strap, so it's not swinging back and forth while you are driving possibly hitting the bike rack or the bike in front of it. Let's go ahead and take that off. It's always good practice to reinstall your straps after you take them off so they are not flapping around while you are driving, and so you don't lose them while you are driving. Next I'm going to give you some measurements to give you an idea of how much has been added to the car after the bike rack is installed. I'm going to be measuring from the hatch here - out, from here it looks about 21 1/2 inches. Now these arms do fold down for close quarter situations such as parking. more

We're going to show you some feature of the rack itself and also how we strap down our bike. The first thing we want to look at are our 2 cradles here. We've got 2 cradles and 3 straps. The 2 on the top frame here and 1 is your anti-sway strap from the back that's going to keep a lot of that shake and sway out of that bike as you're heading down the road. To release those we just pull down and lift up and we save our anti-sway strap for last. We can just pull off our bike and set it off to the side. more

Thule Gateway 2 Bike Carrier Review - 2012 Subaru Impreza- Video

Today on our 2012 Subaru Impreza, we'll be test fitting the Thule Gateway 2 Bike Carrier. This is a trunk mounted bike carrier, part number TH9006. Now after setting up the bike rack as indicated in the instructions included with the bike rack, we're ready to fit it to the vehicle. We'll place the bike rack so that the bottom arm is resting on the rear bumper. We're holding that in place. We'll take our two top straps and hook them in the opening between the rear deck lid and the top of the vehicle. more
